JOANNE SANOIAN Obituary

Joanne Sanoian passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at age 63, after a long bout with cancer. Joanne was born in Fresno, CA on November 7, 1950, along with her twin brother Jerry, to proud parents, Albert and Evelyn Sanoian. She was raised on the Sanoian's Blackstone Ave. property with siblings, Steve, Leonard, and Donna. She attended elementary schools, Wolters and Del Mar, Tenaya Junior High School and Bullard High School. Joanne majored in criminology at Fresno State College, graduating in 1972 magna cum laude. After working for the Department of Social Services in Fresno for several years, her desire to assist those in need of family services, led her to pursue a law degree. She attended San Joaquin College of law, receiving her juris doctorate in 1982. Joanne belonged to the State Bar of California and Fresno County Bar Association. She began her career with the law firm of Staniford, Harris & Loomis before becoming a partner with John Loomis & John F. Garland. In 1995, she established The Law Offices of Joanne Sanoian. On August 22, 2005, Joanne married John Fino, and they had a wonderful life together. She instantly gained a son Jarret; daughter-in-law Sonia; and granddaughters, Jenelle, Tatiana, Julieana and Siena. She loved them all dearly. She always enjoyed traveling and loved trips taken together with the Fino family. Her faithful canine companion, Lucy, gave her unconditional love and joy. Joanne is survived by her husband, John Fino; mother, Evelyn Sanoian; brothers, Steve and wife Lynne, Leonard, and Jerry and wife Vivian; sister, Donna Perry and husband Chuck; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Yost & Webb Funeral Home on Friday, March 28, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be a Home Service at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Saint Paul Armenian Church on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Ararat Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to your favorite charity. Yost & Webb Funeral Home, 1002 T Street, Fresno, California (559)237-4147

Dear John and Evelyn, My sincere sympathy to you and the family on the loss of Joanne. I knew her professionally as an excellent attorney who was always honest, ethical, hardworking, and aggressive in representing her clients. I always enjoyed chatting with her in probate court before the Judge took the Bench, and will miss seeing her at the Courthouse. Joanne was fortunate to have a devoted husband and wondereful mother. Evelyn, I don't know if you remember sitting next to me at Holy Trinity when I met you. It was one of those instances when you meet someone and feel as though you have known them forever. This is cousin Bill Tusan. I grew up with Joanne. I always felt an instant rapport with her. People say to families I understand your loss. I do understand since I lost my wife to breast cancer less than a year ago. I understand her husband's John's loss. Every loss to death is different. A loss of your wife is different to all other losses of my parents and close friends.
