Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Lucente Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of John A. Lucente US Marine Lance Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

I just met Naomi through a Facebook correspondence and learned of her son John. My brother, Anthony John, was a Marine who died in Vietnam in 1968. I am deeply saddened that John left this earth so young, as did my Tony.

Happy birthday big brother. its so hard to sit here, and tell your niece stories about us without tearing up. Your niece gave me a hug, and told me " Uncle JT misses you" tonight while I put her to bed. You will never be forgotten in my family" and my heart aches for you every single day. I love you so freakin' much, happy birthday JT. See you soon!

My son is at the training depot in San Diego. He'll soon be able to call himself a Marine. The process made me think of you. I never knew you, but your family talks lovingly of you to this day. They miss you dearly and constantly.

It's been 7 years, nearly 8 now. You were a pretty cool dude. It was a an honor to serve with you. I know you were in 2nd plt. and I was 1st plt. but we were still friends and I miss your casual sarcasm that made me laugh.
I just wish we could have been friends longer. You are missed and loved by many.

Not a day goes by that the name Lance Cpl. John Lucente does not cross my lips. Five warriors lost their life that day, and as I look at the memorial I built in their honor, I recite their names each and every day. My son survived that day, and I do not take that for granted, ever. My heart goes out to you on this day, and each to follow.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know John, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Dear JT,
As we write this letter, we realize that we are writing it, only to feel closer to you, as you are so far away. It has been nearly 6 months since you were killed in Iraq during this "thing" they call a war. You didn't deserve to die. Yet you did so, for your country. We have always been proud of you for accomplishing so much regardless of all the advercities in your life. We are proud of you today, as we continue to honor and remember you, with every day of our lives.
Rest in peace our beloved son...Until we meet, and love again,

To the Family of Lance Cpl. John A. Lucente:
I am saddened to sign yet another guest book. We grieve with you in the loss of your precious son John. I know exactly how you are feeling and what you must be going through. We too lost a son in Iraq on December 1, 2005.
As a mother/parent I know there is nothing I can say that will ease your pain and sorrow over the terrible loss of your brave son. I know your hearts are broken and there is now a void and deep sadness in your heart that will never be filled. While the pain will probably never leave, I pray the Lord gives you comfort, peace and strength of mind to help you cope with this loss over time.
This is an extremely difficult time, but hold on to those good memories of your son….the ones that make you laugh and remember with joy the moments that you shared. The laughter between all those tears is one of the ways that will help you work through your grief. John is a hero (a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities) and even though we were not fortunate enough to know him we pray for your family and for all those serving our country so valiantly. Our children have made the ultimate sacrifice and they will always be honored and never forgotten. Unfortunately these tragic events have bound all of us together and changed our lives forever. God bless you and all your family!

To the Family of Lance Cpl. John A. Lucente:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. They will never be forgotten, never able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your memories will sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.

Tony and Naomi Lucente,
Thank you for putting so much love and effort and time into Jt’s upbringing. I know that he loved you two very VERY much, and there is nothing that anyone can say that would ever change that.
Naomi, from what Jt has told me about you, you seem like an incredible person and an even better mother. You took Jt in as one of your own, and I know he really appreciated it. I just wanted to thank you for helping to make him feel more at home with you, and for reaching out to him. I know from the bottom of my heart that he loved you like a son loves his mother.
Tony, I was reading an article where you and Naomi were interviewed about Jt, and I wanted to thank you for that as well. I’ve read pretty much every article on him, but I was a little disappointed because it seems like most of the articles didn’t describe him correctly. But when I read your article, you mentioned how he liked to go to the salon because he got attention from the girls… and Naomi mentioned that jt was a “spitfire.” That’s the way I remember him. Yes, he was a very good kid, but he also was a funny prankster, and had SO much to offer. He wasn’t just a shy churchboy from Grass Valley. He was full of life and character. So thank you for also clearing that up. It makes me feel so much better knowing that someone else knows who he really was!
Words cannot even express how greatful I am that you two were in his life. I hope you know in your hearts that you meant the world to him. Don’t ever think differently.
I hope that someday I will be able to talk to you two. I loved (and still do love) your son Jt VERY much. You did an amazing job raising him, and to me, he was the perfect man.
From my heart: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

Mr. & Mrs. Lucente,
I just came across the obituary on your son's JT's death. I knew John very well, my kids went to school with him and often played and hung out together. I remember how often he would speak such loving and kind words on the both of you. I had no idea that he had even joined the military, as when I last seen him he totally had a different career in mind. I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart of your lost. I know their is no pain deeper and lasting than that of losing a child, and especially when they are so young. It just don't make sense at times? I know you have strong Catholic morals and values as John had shared with me, so I know you have comfort in knowing he is home with the Lord. I have some pictures I would like to give to you someday when you are ready of John that I had taken. Again, I am so very sorry for your loss. Please if there is anything I can do, please contact me.
God Bless You and your entire family.

Hi Tony and Naomi,
I cannot imagine How difficult this has been on the two of you, I cannot even begin to know the pain that you are going through. JT was always so happy when he was with you, you could see it in his smile. I did not know any of his other relatives, but I know that JT was the man that he was because he had terrific parents like you. It was hard for him, moving here to Nevada city. He had such struggles, and concerns over moving so far away from you. I am glad to know that he spent so much time with you guys after the last relocation. That, I'm sure made him very happy. You must be so proud of the honorable man that you raised. I am proud to have known him. I am here for you guys, If you should need anything. You have my home #, and I still work for the same company here in Auburn. Call me for anything!
Love to you all,
Seph

Our son, JT, his life will always be an everlasting memory and should remind each of us what we have. Realize that in a second your reality can be removed. We must never rely on our own understanding.
My daughter,Cassie, reminded me the other day "Mommy, John's not dead - he's alive in Christ." I looked at her in awe and she said again "He's at home now."
We all must remember not to think of John's life as a loss, but as a memory, only temporarily put on hold until we meet again in Heaven.
Thank you to each of you for your kind words and continued prayers.

To the Lucente's,
The Love that (JT) Johnny gave to all of us is an instrument in our lives and souls to be the best we can be with all to whom we surround.
I pray that the loss of John will give you strength knowing that he is now home with the Lord.
Not a day goes by that we do not feel his everlasting presence.
JT was our light and will forever be.
Our deepest sympathy to all of you.

To John's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

As a Gold Star mom myself, I know the suffering you are feeling. There are no words to sooth, no deeds to help, there is only confusion and sorrow. But please know you and your family are in my prayers. May our Heavenly Father, who holds both our sons in his arms, also hold your hand through this difficult time.
"And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, and strengthen you." 1Peter 5:10

Even though I didn't know Lcpl. John Lucente personally, in these close knit communities of Placer and Nevada Counties we feel the loss. My prayers are with your family. Even though John didn't get to see his baby brother Jake in person, he is seeing him from Heaven. Just know there is a Marine Mom close by who will always be there for you. Thank you Lance Coporal. Please accept oour deepest sympathies for your loss. Our son, J.T. is a member of your son's squad and told us of his death with great sorrow of loosing a close friend and brother. He told us that John was a great Marine and friend and is missed and remembered by all his brothers in Fox Co. He told us that their Thanksgiving memorial for their 8 fallen brothers was the hardest thing he ever experienced. Our daily prayers will always include your fallen warrior and our hearts will always carry the memory of John as a true hero.
