John Osburn Obituary

John Osburn
November 29, 1938 - July 16, 2021
Fresno, California - John Osburn passed away July 16, 2021 surrounded by his family. His children held his hands as he took his last breath. He was born in Oktaha Ok. on November 29, 1938. During childhood his family moved to Orosi Ca. He was the youngest of 5 children. John's parents were killed tragically in separate car accidents. His only sister June and her husband Richard Weaver became his guardians so he wouldn't be a ward of the state. He lived with them and their 5 children until he graduated from Dinuba Highschool in 1956. He then joined the Navy. He served until 1959. He was honorably discharged. He then started truck driving with his brother Lowell Osburn. He met Margaret Allen in 1961. They were married October 19, 1962. They had 3 children- Shanda, Devlin and John Jr. He started his trucking business Osburn Trucking with Lowell in 1984 until he retired 2008. He spent his life making sure his family was well taken care of and helped so many of our friends and their families. He always fought for the underdog, he genuinely wanted to see them succeed. He was a man of his word. You always knew where you stood with John. He loved his dogs and cared for all the dogs in his neighborhood- sometimes getting them all breakfast from McDonald's. John especially loved his grandkids and would light up when he saw them. He fondly referred to them as his 'sacks of sugar'. John will always be remembered as a quiet but dignified honest man and a first class athlete. Everyone who knew him said it was an honor and privilege to be considered his friend.
John is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Osburn "Peggy" and his eldest brothers Glynn, Waymon and Lowell. He is survived by his children Shanda Osborn, Devlin Osburn, John Osburn and his wife Julie, his grandchildren Mitchell Osborn his wife Cheyenne Osborn, Brett Osborn, Ellie Osburn, Phoebe Osburn and Colbie Osburn. His sister June Weaver and her husband Richard Weaver and his nieces and nephews and his dog Heavy. We will all miss our Superman, Father, Dad, Daddy and animal lover.
Until we meet again.

I'm so sad and Heartbroken to hear that John has passed away. I remember when John and Lowell started the truck company over on McKinley at Lowell's house. Later John built his home there too. I went by and checked on them all the time. John was so much fun and always had a smile on his face. John love to laugh and have a great time with all of his friends. I remember his Custom Black Car he always drove around in. John and I would tease Lowell all the time. John got the biggest kick out of that.
I can hear him laugh now as I write this. John, you were the greatest guy, best friend, anyone could ever ask for. I know I lost touch with you after you moved from out there. I will miss you my dear friend, but never forget you. Until the day we can meet again, tease Shorty again know I love and will miss you.
