John Souza Obituary

JOHN A. SOUZA John, who was born and raised in Fresno, has died at the age of 75 in Reno, NV. His wife, Sharonlee was at his side. John enlisted In the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 where he was attached to the Legal Department. He served upon destroyers, anti-submarine vessels, and the Carrier U.S.S. Boxer. John was on the Navy Boxing Team. He had 49 bouts of which he had 40 knockouts. After the service John returned to Fresno. He enrolled at Fresno City College where he played football for the Rams as offensive halfback and defensive safety. John worked as Produce Manager at Safeway for some time and then went in to business for himself. He moved to Reno, NV In 1997. John grew up on a ranch in Fresno where he labored with his mother Maria, and his sisters. John is survived by his sisters, Mary Bowron, Adelina Lacy, and Lulnora Souza; his children, John Lynn, Amber, and Randy live in Roseville with John's grandsons Johnnie and Jesse. John was a proud new great- grandfather of baby Alicia. A Memorial Service will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 5265 H Street in Sacramento, on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. Northern Nevada Memorial Cremation & Burial Society Reno, NV (775)322-2772
