John Wise Obituary

John (Jack) Wise

July 11, 1935 - November 8, 2024

Fresno, California - John (Jack) Herbert Wise was born in Bakersfield, California to Martha and Herbert Wise on July 11, 1935. He attended elementary school and high school in Bakersfield. After high school, Jack graduated from Fresno State University earning a degree in accounting.

Jack married Julie Ann White in November 1957, and they made their home in Fresno. Jack enjoyed a successful career as a CPA and was also active in several cattle related businesses. He participated in international business activities and frequently traveled to the Middle East and Europe.

Jack was an avid cyclist and spent time touring throughout Europe. He attended the Tour de France. Jack was fascinated by literature and was a voracious reader with an extensive library.

Jack was preceded in death by his son Matthew John Wise, who passed away suddenly in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Julie. Jack was a treasured friend to so many of us and will be greatly missed.

Yesterday

Jack hired me in 1969 as a junior accountant. He was a pleasure to work with and we had a lot of fun. He was so easy to be with and I respected him so much. We haven't been i touch for several years but I thought about him many times. Thank you my friend for having the patience with a new college graduate that knew nothing about REAL accounting. I will remember you the rest of my life.
