Jon Wallace "Wally" Upton
August 2, 1939 - April 19, 2022
Fresno, California - Wally Upton, a man so loved and admired by all who knew him, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2022. Wally was born on August 2, 1939 to Gilbert and Lillian Upton in Fresno. He attended local schools graduating from Fresno High School and Fresno State University. Following graduation from Fresno State he joined the U. S. Navy as an officer. Upon military discharge, Wally studied at Hastings College of the Law graduating with a J. D. degree and was admitted to the bar in 1970.
As managing partner of the firm Kimble, MacMichael and Upton,Wally was a highly respected trial attorney who practiced in the arena of civil litigation and had the ability to offer wise counsel and a sense of reality to the most difficult cases.
In keeping with his strong religious faith, Wally was seriously involved in bible study and was the co-founder of a study group for over 40 years. Wally was a great lover of the arts, an accomplished rock climber, an experienced fly fisherman, a voracious reader, a practitioner of yoga and an avid golfer at San Joaquin Country Club.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Hilde and his son Hans. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his daughter Victoria and his sister Diane.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church 1540 M Street on May 4, 2022 at 11:00 am.
