Dear Joe and Albertina, and Family,
Our hearts our saddened to hear your son, and loved one, was fighting cancer. We didn't know and we are so very sorry. We read his obituary and now know he was a very special person with many talents and a deep devotion to God. We send our deepest sympathy and prayers.

To the Areias Family:
I am so sorry for your loss. I had seen Joe about 3 or 4 weeks ago and he looked good considering what he was fighting, but he said he was getting tired. He was always nice to me and the rest of the girls from the Class of 72 and what a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

Joe, you left us WAY, WAY too soon. I am getting really sick and tired of losing close friends and family to this relentless, heartless disease. Even though we only spent 9th grade together at DPHS, I always felt you were one of my best friends. I never forgot about you even after we moved away, and I won't forget about you now. Your zest for life and your sense of humor will be greatly missed by all of us. I'm so glad we had a chance to talk on the phone recently but I'm kicking myself for not keeping in closer touch with you over the years.
Your friend,
Georgia McCullough
