KENN BOVETTI Obituary

Kenn Allen Bovetti, born on April 13, 1943, in Visalia, CA, to Reno and Clio Bovetti, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, after a lengthy and valiant battle with health issues. Kenn grew up in a farming community southwest of Porterville, CA, with his twin brother, Keith, younger brother, Philip, and sister, Gina Merritt. He graduated from Porterville High School, then attended California State University, Fresno, graduating in 1966. While at State, Kenn was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, serving as its president. After graduation, Kenn went directly to the United States Marine Corps Officer Training School in Quantico, VA. He was deployed to Vietnam as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1967, returning after completion of his term of duty in 1968, continuing his service with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, CA, and Honorably Discharged in 1969. After attending law school at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, Kenn returned to the valley, practicing both civil and criminal defense law for over 43 years in Tulare, Kings, and Fresno Counties. Through his extensive practice, especially enjoying the courtroom, Kenn earned the respect of judges and lawyers alike. In turn, he respected the law and admired those who dedicated themselves to our system of justice. A man of deep faith, Kenn embraced the teachings of several spiritual ideologies. Late in his life, he was baptized into the Catholic Church, joining his mother and sister in their confirmation and dedication. He was very involved with and celebrated his American Indian heritage as a descendant of the tribal nation and gourd dancing society. Kenn had a deep respect of the Native American culture and extended Pow Wow family. Kenn was also a dedicated member of the Sons of Italy, Roma Lodge in Tulare, CA. Kenn was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother Keith; and his brother Philip. Kenn was a proud American and a proud Veteran. He loved God, Country, the love of his life, Brenda Smith; his only child, daughter, Kristiana Bovetti; his surviving sister, Gina Merritt and husband Earl; his deceased siblings and their spouses, and his many loving nieces and nephews. His extended family was extremely important and dear to him. He never met a stranger, and Kenn thoroughly embraced meeting and getting to know so very many people from all walks of life. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 378 N. "F" Street, Porterville, CA, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. A Burial will follow at the Porterville Cemetery. A reception will be held thereafter at The Women's Hall, also known as Myers Funeral Reception Hall, 265 N. E St., Porterville, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project; the Sons of Italy Roma Lodge Scholarship Fund, c/o Frances Della, 17383 Avenue 184, Strathmore, CA; or The American Cancer Society.

Kenn & I went to college and played SAE fraternity sports together at Fresno State. The last time I spoke with him was at the Un-Thanksgiving Sunrise Ceremony on Alcatraz Island a few years ago. His passion for his Native culture matched his passion for social justice and he embrased them both to the fullest.
This morning I came across a photo of Kenn & Keith on Alcatraz in 1999, googled him only to learn of his passing on to the Spirit World. The future is so glad he was with us for those 75 years.

I only knew Mr. Bovetti through work, he was a client, but after speaking to him I always felt a glow...and good. He made you feel good.
My condolences to his family...I will miss our yearly talks.

Psalms 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years. May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.

As you remember your love one, as God heals your broken hearts (Psalm 147:3), may your treasured memories bring you peace, comfort, and strength to endure.

Kenn was a good and decent person; and isn't,t that what we all strive to be? Many fail but Kenn was a success.
I first met him in 1966 when I was a freshman and he was a senior at Fresno State. Kenn was President of the SAE fraternity. He was an imposing figure to a freshman like me. But soon I found him to be a gentle and kind man. He kept those qualities throughout his life. Bacuase our careers took both of us into law I would see frequently. Every time I would see him he would greet me with his big smile and calm demeanor.
I will miss our conversations about what life was all about and his gentle nature. May true condolences to his family. May his soul find the peace he was searching for.

To the Family,
I remember a very moving thing that Kenn did while my Mom (Mariet Jackie Dwight Settle) was termanilly ill at St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno.(2006) He drove from Tulare in between appointments to present my Mom with an Eagle feather and receite an Indian prayer. It was just so moving and unexpected. We were all so touched beyond words, my Mother especially! The feather never left her side!
My love to Gina, and deepest sympathy to all. I truly hope to make it to the Service but realistically it may not be possible. And what happened to the Eagle feather?, it is held with Great trust with her Granddaughter Kristine Settle, my Niece, who so happens to be a large percentage of Potawatomi Indian heritage.

Our sincere condolences,
Much love,
Jeff & Kathryn Settle

So very sorry to hear of Kenn's passing. His mother and my mom, Josephine Coates, were good friends. Kenn and his brother, Keith, were good friends until I moved to Northern Ca. in 1963. They were both great guys.

I see this picture and read the words that describe the man that I got to call my dad yet the loss of you is not real to me. This feels like a very bad dream. I love you Papa. I miss you so much and I was not ready for you to leave but pray you are at peace with my grandparents and my uncles. ❤

I was so saddened to hear about Kenn's Passing. I enjoyed participating in his run for the State Assembly in 1979-80. I also enjoyed meeting the family. My family belongs to the Sons of Italy Lodge in Hanford and through Kenn my family got to know many of the members of the Lodge in Visalia. Kenn was a great man. He cared about many people and he will be missed. Love and Heartfelt prayers to the family. May Kenn Rest In Peace. Cheryl Bertaina Lehn
