LARRY MELIKIAN

Larry Dennis Melikian 66 of Fresno, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Clovis Community Hospital following several years of declining health. Larry was born in Fresno Ca. to Paul and Marion Melikian on August 21, 1947. The Melikians were members of First Armenian Presbyterian Church where Larry's Christian Life's foundation was accepted and nutured and shared with others. Larry grew up in Madera on the family ranch, and graduated from Madera High School with the Class of 1965 where he was active in athletics and student government. He later graduated from CSU Fresno where he was affiliated with Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. Larry served with the California Army National Guard and later was a leader in Christian Ministry with the Fresno/Madera Youth for Christ and the organization in Long Beach. He later was an active participant in the establishment of Valley Teen Ranch in Madera County where he served as a Board Member for many years while involved in farming with the Melikian Ranches. He attended Northwest Church, and served with H. Spees on the One by One Leadership Foundation. A servant to his fellow man, Larry volunteered often at the Fresno Rescue Mission to those less fortunate then he. Larry was preceded in death by his father Paul Melikian. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Denise Silveira Melikian and his mother Marion Melikian both of Fresno. He is the beloved father of Bryan Melikian and his wife Malorie of Clovis, and Adam Melikian of Fresno. He is the brother of Rodney Melikian and his wife Diane, Jeffrey Melikian and his wife Karen both of Fresno and Cheri Melkonian and her husband Mark of Sanger. He is the son-in-law of Elsie Silveira of Fresno, brother in-law to Joe Silveira and his wife Anne of Redding, Stan Silveira of Tranquillity, and Carole Silveira of Fresno. Also surviving are his nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A memorial service celebrating the life of Larry Melikian will be on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Northwest Church of Fresno. Private Family Graveside Services were held at Belmont Memorial Park. Memorial Remembrances may be made to Fresno/Madera Youth for Christ, Valley Teen Ranch, or Northwest Church.
