Fresno, California - Levi Owens peacefully passed away on September 5th, 2023 at the age of 81.
Viewing will be held on Friday, September 29th at Jesse E. Cooley Jr Funeral Home from 5pm-8pm.
Celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 30th at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church at 2529 E Belmont Ave in Fresno, CA.
Levi was born on January 17, 1942 in Ringgold, Louisiana. The fourth of nine children, Levi graduated from Barstow High School and Fresno State University where he played football. Levi was a veteran of the US Army then spent the majority of his career in management with Del Monte Foods.
Levi is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Owens; sons William General Owens, Robert Joseph Owens, and Darrell Owens; step-children Natoma, Edward, Daphne, Patrick and Ronald; siblings John, Felton, Dennis and Gladys; nieces, nephews, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Levi was preceded in death by his parents, General and Maxine Owens; his brothers, Leroy, TJ, General Jr. and sister Gara.
Levi touched many lives and we will carry his memories in our hearts forever.

Thank you Mr Owens for your son Darrell Owens whom in 1990 I became his wife. Then in 1996 we had our son; your grandson Darrell Ben-Lee Owens.
I never met you, but I wanted to share my gratitude to you for being that vessel that your son came through.

Levi was a great and supportive dad, son, brother, cousin, and uncle to all of our family. He is missed already. He included everyone and made you feel special. He was determined to keep our family and extended family together as evidenced in family reunions. He´s the last person that called me Irene. I miss that already. I believe that he was ready when God called him home, and was welcomed by our family on the other side of the veil. I´ll see you on the other side, brother.
