Margaret Hansen Obituary

Margaret's long goodbye came to a peaceful close on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. She was blessed with an unshakeable faith in her Lord whose love guided her throughout life. Her sweet nature, sacrifice, and thoughtfulness were the true hallmarks by which we will remember her. Raised on a Yakima, Washington farm, Margaret spent most of her life in San Francisco. A workaholic by nature with a gift for numbers, she did accounting work for more than two decades as part of Nurseryman's Exchange, a horticultural grower and importer. Margaret also loved her S.F. Giants and the opera, especially performances by the late Luciano Pavarotti. In 1990, she retired to be near her daughter and grandchildren in Clovis where Margaret enjoyed volunteering at Cole Elementary School and teaching Sunday school at Faith Community Church. Most of all, she was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, as well as a good friend to one and all. Predeceasing Margaret were her parents, Paul and Elsie Hansen; sister, Carrie Shipp; and brothers, Laurence and Wilson Hansen. We wish to express our deepest and most sincere gratitude to everyone at Elim Gardens Assisted Living and to Debbie Brazie and Chaplain Frank with Optimal Hospice Care for their compassionate care of Margaret. She leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and William Mochizuki; her beloved grandchildren, Beth and Bryan Mochizuki; her sister, Alice Caine; sister-in-law, Florence Hansen; "little brother", Paul Shipp; and many nieces and nephews. At Margaret's request, there will be no formal services. Remembrances may be made in Margaret's memory to Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) or Optimal Hospice Care (www.optimalhs.com).

I've missed seeing dear Margie for several years now but I hold fond memories of her friendship in my heart and admiration for her devotion and faithfulness to God and her church family.
