MARY RAMIREZ Obituary

Mary passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the age of 86. She was born in Del Rey, CA on March 24, 1929.

Mary worked for the Fresno Unified School District for 30 years as a teacher's assistant. She married Rudolph Ramirez in 1951 and they were married for 60 years prior to his passing in 2011.

Mary was always an active member of the three parishes she belonged to over the course of her life in Fresno: St. John's Cathedral, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. In 1978 she received the Pius X Award for her "outstanding and dedicated volunteer service as a minister of God's word through Catechetics."

She is survived by her sons, Gary Ramirez and James Bartimus; daughter, Carol Ramirez; grandson, Spencer Bremer; sister, Concha Estrada; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Bertha Magdaleno; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Ralphie, Carla and Tina, the Pro-Hospice nurses and staff and the Dial for Care staff who cared for Mary during the last three months of her life.

Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral Home on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm, followed by Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 4:00 p.m.
