MATHEW RODGERS Obituary

Matt passed away on Saturday evening, June 30, 2012, with his wife, Cleta and family at his bedside. He was born in Lemoore, Ca. to Mathew and Mary Rodriques. He grew up in Hanford, Ca. graduating from Hanford High School, joining the US Navy at seventeen, and spent four years in the Navy flying as a tail gunner off the ship USS Enterprise. Upon his return home, he attended Fresno State College graduating with a BA Degree and joining the Accounting Profession, having his own business, which lasted fifty six years in Fresno. Matt, is past President of the Local Chapter SCA, going up the chairs in the society he became the State President of the State Society of California Accountants. He and Cleta traveled up and down the state of California for the Society for more than fifteen years. After that he went on to work with the Consumers Affairs State of California representing the Accounting Profession, while taking care of his own practice. Matt is predeceased by his mother and father; his daughter, Ranita Martin; and sister, Eva Street. He is survived by Cleta, his loving wife of 46 years; his daughters, Raylene Walker, and Bev Pierce and her husband Richard; his son, Greg Rodgers; grandchildren, Matt and Brooke Gomez, Ryan and Sheng Gomez, Nathan Navarro, Kandice and Cole Johnson, Jason and Mandy Martin, Sean Rodgers, Jason, and Michael, Brian and Brittany Pierce; and eleven great-grandchildren. Matt is also survived by two brothers, Joe Rogers and his wife Shirley of Hacienda Heights, California and William Silva; two sisters, Peggy Silva and Jerri Collins of Tulare, California; many nieces and nephews; and the love of his life, his dog Tucker. Viewing will be held at the Palm La Paz Funeral Home, on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Peoples Church, in the GL Johnson Chapel on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Burial service following at Washington Colony Cemetery in Easton.
