Matthew Beggs Obituary

MATTHEW ARENDT BEGGS Matthew was born in Fresno on May 30, 1985. He passed away on St. Patrick's Day on Wednesday, March 17, 2004. His death was sudden and unexpected. Matthew had a gift. His smile was easy, his laugh was infectious, and his willingness to help others was infinite. He loved his family and cherished each celebration. His passing will reserve a permanent space in our memory and our hearts. Matthew had a passion for International Scouts, camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, and Minnesota. He loved to impersonate Johnny Cash and even made Johnny sound good. He seemed destined for a life of service to others. He was a "people pleaser". His greatest contentment was to make others happy. His concern for others was borne daily in his service to the residents and staff at Fairwinds Retirement Community. He was fun to be with and always upbeat, and he had his favorites. Matt was generous with his friends, his time, any money he had and the proverbial "shirt off his back". Matthew is survived by his mother and father, Deborah and Patrick; sisters Reanin and Hannah; grandparents, Joann and Phil Arendt, and Thomas J. Beggs; great-grandmother, Editha Moe; uncles, Robert and James, and their wives Cindy and Kellie, and Uncle Tom and his wife Shelly; and a large caring and loving extended family throughout California and across the country. "Matthew, we understand your torment is no more. Rest in peace and bless us each. You will forever be with us. We love you and will miss you....until we see you again." Visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, March 23, 2004, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to Fresno Survivors of Suicide Loss, 7946 N. Maple, #105, Fresno, CA 93720. SERENITY FUNERAL SERVICE5042 N. Fresno 244-6330

Pat,Debbie and Family. I can not begin to express my sympathy for your loss. Although I had not met your son, knowing that you are his parents, he had to be one heck of a kid. In reading what some of the others had to say of him, he reminded me of one young man back in his San Joaquin Memorial days....when you made friends fast and had that zest for fun too. You surely feel lost and God knows it and he will help. My prayers for you and your families.

Love Mary and family

To the Beggs family. I did not know Matt, though I knew his sister Reanin. And if Matt was anything like her, he is surely blessed and will always be remembered. I was so terribly sorry to hear the news. Reanin, you be strong as best you can. A ray of light will shine on you and your family, which will be Matt's. Just for you. I cannot imagine what you must be going through, but know that God is always with us. He "shall" get you through it. Love, Robin

Patrick, Debbie, Reanin & Hannah, you are all in my prayers in this time of great loss. Though I've only known Matt for half his life, he's always struck me as a fine young man, with a good upbringing. He's always polite to each person he would meet, and was the type of guy you couldn't help but like, due his great and constant smile, and cheerful outlook that was contageous! He seemed to touch the heart of everyone he met, and left a ray of sunshine there.

Though our hearts are broken now due to his loss, every time we think of him, he will be alive in our hearts, and give us that touch of sunshine if we just remember what a joyful spirit he is, and let that touch our hearts. Matt will always be in our hearts and minds, and none of the future family parties will be the same without his cheery spirit. It's now up to us to remember him, and regain that joy that he always bestowed on all around him.

May God bless you and keep you by his side.

To the Beggs Family,

I remember seeing Matt for the first time; he was a smiling 7th grader wearing a Kastner football uniform. He was so young, freckled, and happy. I also remember the last time I saw him, as a Clovis West senior. He still looked young, freckled, and happy. These nice memories will stay with the Maldonado family forever.Matt always came to see Teddy perform, to clap the loudest,to support his friend. We lift your family up in prayer. We can't imagine your grief.

Blessings.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I last saw Matthew when he was 3 or 4...such a little bundle of energy! Matthew sounds like he was an awesome young man. Your loss must seem too great to bear. I will be praying for you and the girls and know that God will protect and sustain you all.

The few times I was around Matt, he showed such a zest for life, & I was impressed with his entrepreunerial spirit at such a young age.

After My own daughter's passing last year; leaving me with lots of unanswered questions, my heart goes out to you with prayers to see you thru this time. My solace: What a caterpillar calls 'death', God calls a 'Butterfly'.

I went through out school with matt. We both went to Liberty together and then Clovis West. I didn't really know him during high school but I still would consider him a really good person to be around. He was always well liked. I just want to send my condolences to the family and let them know that we all will miss him.
