Beth, I am so sorry to hear about Mikes passing. I saw Steve S. today and I told him I saw you at Waterpolo a few weeks ago and he told me. I had no idea. Your husband was such a nice person. I wish you and your daughters well. Cynthia Scharton

His daughters were very lucky to have him as a father. I didn't know him personally, but I used to see him at many of the swim meets his daughters competed in. I've always paid attention to the Snyder family, as they always had a reputation for being fast and hard working athletes. I remember the eldest daughter, Sarah, as a 10 year old winning races with this huge, tough-looking father in sun glasses screaming his head off in joy as he cheered her on. When the middle daughter, Caitlyn, starting establishing her presence at meets and making waves in the pool, he was there behind her lane, again, screaming his head off. When the youngest daughter, Julianne, had her first meet at the age of 3 (still the youngest swimmer I've ever seen), he was, yet again, beside her the whole way, cheering her on... and screaming his head off.
It's not too often you see parents with such passion for their kids, attending every possible event they can to cheer them on. I don't coach at swim meets anymore, but I hope the family is doing well and are still making their presence at the pool two years later. Though the amount in years he got to spend with his daughters was short, it was easy to see the high level of love he had for them for each of those years, a love that many kids, unfortunately, do not ever get the chance to experience.

Every day that goes by I think of you. I miss you so much Snyder!! Every time I wanna give up, I hear your voice in my head. "What are you doing champ? You're more than this." You've always encouraged me to believe in myself... just the way you did. I never got to tell you in person, but I got accepted to CSU Monterey Bay. Thank you. Without your support, encouragement, and belief in me, it wouldn't have been done. In a few weeks I'll be moving into my dorms there at CSUMB. But I'm scared. Ever since I was younger.. this was all I've ever wanted, to leave Fresno and it's happening. It all feels surreal. I know you're watching over me still, but please help me like you always have. I love you, Snyder. You were the best mentor I could ever have. You listened to me, and that's all I ever needed. Thank you for being the great person you were. You saved me and I will forever be grateful.

I remember the energetic, eccentric Mike. He always was the teacher, coach, leader, and father that leaded a life of empathy and understanding.
You will be missed big guy. You left behind great memories and greater kids. I honestly can not think of a moment that Papa didn't live up to his great reputation.
Much love to the Snyder family. God bless.

Mike could pick a kid up over his head and spin him like a helicopter, giving him a whole new perspective on things. He loved kids especially his own and he taught us all in life and in death to remember to live each day to the fullest because life is a gift. Mike you are a gift to all of us. God Bless.

Words will fail to convey the admiration I have of this man. In the few short years of being on the pool deck and working side by side with him at meets, his influence and encouragement is something rarely seen. His absolute passion for his girls, his love of his wife and parents, was apparent to anyone who knew him. You knew immediately where is heart was. He has had an eternal impact on my life. The infectious laugh, the jokes, and the commitment to excellence that embodied who he was leaves behind a multitude of people who are better because of knowing him. Big Mike, your legacy will live on until we meet again. Your Bub.

Your love for life was bigger than anyone I have ever known! The zest and tenacity that you loved your family was admirable and an example for all dads. The pool deck will not ever be the same. We lost the leader. Promise to love your girls with wild abandon. Thanks for loving my family. Eternity is a long time, we will be there in a blink.
