Mike Matoian Obituary

MIKE MATOIAN Mike entered eternal rest on Friday, April 30, 2004, at the age of 91. He was born on May 7, 1912, in the small village of Hoghe, Armenia to Giragos and Sarah Matoian. His family immigrated to Fresno after living a number of years in Tijuana, Mexico. Mike farmed a number of vegetable crops and grapes in the Kearney Park area, and was especially known for his outstanding vine-ripened tomatoes and chili peppers. Later he farmed grapes in the Fowler and Easton areas. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Roxie, and their four children; daughter, Blanche Antoyan and husband Robby; son, George and his wife Darlene; son, Richard and his wife Julie; daughter, Lucy Matoian; and four grandchildren, Zachary, Robyn, Mark and Nicholas. Mike is also survived by his sister, Rose Kevorkian and her husband Jake; brother, Steve and wife Natalie; and sister, Alice Gavroian, and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church in Fowler, on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. Internment will be at Ararat Cemetery.
