MITZI SORENSEN

Mitzi Sorensen was born on August 1, 1929, in Fresno, CA. She was the fourth child of Hans and Lolita Christensen. She passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017, due to congestive heart failure. Mitzi graduated from Fresno Technical High School and was a lifelong resident of Fresno. She and her husband, Chris, were the coowners of Weco Oxygen which they cofounded in 1963. Mitzi will always be remembered for her love of cats, auto racing, San Francisco Giants, and San Francisco 49ers. Her life adventures included several trips to the Indy 500, Mexico Cruises, a visit to New Orleans, and Washington D.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Chris. Mitzi is survived by Chris, her husband of 66 years; sisters, Marie Taylor, Hope FineRidge; brother, Andy Christensen; daughter, Vicki Hughes and husband Art; son, John Sorensen and wife India; her beloved grandchildren, Adam Hughes, Janelle Perez, Crystalynne Andrade and husband Nick, and Juliette Lahey and husband Jack. She also leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren, Calista, Cecilia, and Gabriel Andrade, and Jade Perez. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be missed by many friends, Silvia and Shelly, Adela, Roger and Doreen, The Guzman family, and Steve Hinthorne. The family would like to thank Sherri Gifford; St. Agnes Medical Center; and Millbrae Care Home, especially Tess, June and Leticia, for the special care they gave to Mitzi. A Celebration of Mitzi's Life will be held at Chris Sorensen's Art Studio, 2223 S. Van Ness Ave., Fresno, CA, on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 12:00 noon. Please bring your favorite food and memories to a potluck to honor Mitzi. Beverages will be provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA.
