NEIL SAIGAL Obituary

Dear Neil, On January 3, 1985, you came into this world and brought great happiness to our lives. On Thursday, September 8, 2011, you went to heaven at the young age of 26. Everything you did always made us proud. After graduating from Clovis West High School in 2003, you received a degree in Psychology from U.C. Irvine, where you were a member of the Crew team, and a researcher at the Brain Imaging Center. Your other accomplishments included being awarded a 1st prize at the Young Investigators Award by the Society of Nuclear Medicine, a Fulbright Scholarship to attend the Karolinska Institute, and a full ride to the University of Cambridge. We will remember your thirst for life, your love of nature, your insatiable curiosity, your humble spirit, and your warm heart. Thank you for all the great times, and for making our lives worthwhile. Your loving mom and dad, Dr. Harsh and Sue Saigal A Memorial Service will be held at the Hindu Temple of Fresno, 7699 East Alluvial Ave., Clovis, Ca. 93619 559-325-7233 on Sunday, September 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make remembrances to Neil Saigal Foundation, 7130 N. I cannot believe that such a wonderful person has ceased to exist in this world. Even though I didn't kept in touch much w/ Neil after college (he was always active, moving from one adventure to the next!) I always thought about him from time to time.

Memories from our good times together will never be erased from my mind....singing a duet together for HinduStudentCoucil's talent show, sitting in the grass chatting after getting some boba, rocking climbing together at the arc, having lunch and study dates at the SciLib... I will truly miss you Neil.

As is obvious from the other comments, you are unforgettable even to those who have met you only once...and we will all miss you very much. You were one of the most beautiful people I have come to meet in my life, both inside and out. I will miss you always.

most people would be lucky to have Neil cross their paths once; I was lucky enough to have us cross paths twice. We first met in Stockholm where we lived together for one year and we shared parties, long talks into the night and one very delicious dinner cooked by Mrs. Saigal. I was thrilled to know Neil was coming to Cambridge and he helped me so much, always inviting me to do things when I had barely made any friends yet. I regret not taking more of those invitations, thinking he would, like me, spend the whole 4 years of the PhD here. I was sad and even a bit jealous when he left, since I was also unhappy here for a while and leaving, doing something else, finding myself, was always on my mind. Neil was not one to settle for anything else than happiness, and that is the lesson I take from him. He was a real inspiration and an amazing friend. My deepest, deepest condolences to all of his family, he left us way too soon.

Wow, I am still very shocked that this happened. I didn't know Neil too well, but I had the pleasure of knowing him in college. I remember how alive and energetic he'd always seem, and he was friendly to everyone, which is what I liked about him. I have to admit I kept tabs on him even after we parted ways (I had quite a crush on him and I always thought he was the most attractive Indian guy I had ever seen)! :)

My most heartfelt condolences go out to the Saigal Family.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Dr. Saigal, Mrs. Saigal and Sonia. Though we have never had the privilege of meeting your beloved son, listening to the several eulogies shared at the service today, we knew Neil wasn’t just an ordinary person. Neil was special in every way and he touched the lives of many people. We can only imagine the pain and hurt you must be going thru during this period in your lives. Please take some solace in knowing that many, many families are thinking and praying for you and your family. Neil’s story is one we will never forget and will be a constant reminder to not hold grudges nor take for granted the relationships we have with family members who are the closest to us. Sincerely, Tammy and your patient Lexi Patterson. (Lexi sends her love).

Sincere condolences to the Saigal family. While I did not know Neil personally, had acquaintance with his father when I worked at Children's Hospital in the 80's. From Neil's achievements so far, it's obvious the world has lost a bright young star.

Let me first express my sympathies to Neils family, I am so, so sorry for your loss. I knew Neil briefly, but Neil was one of those individuals that you could meet once and instantly connect with and see that this person had a huge passion for life. My heart is deeply saddened, he had so much good to give to this world. He will be extremely missed.
