Perry Bean Obituary

Perry Oliver Bean, Jr.
Conway
Perry Oliver Bean, Jr. known to many as "Jay Booth" passed away Wednesday, January 15, at Conway Medical Center, after a long and valiant fight against diabetes and its related problems.
"Jay "to friends and "Jaybird" to his family, was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida on Valentine's Day 1961. He was the oldest son of Sandra and the late
Terry Booth of Conway, SC and Perry O. Bean Sr. of Tampa, Florida, and the husband of Patricia Akins Jones. He graduated from Conway High School with the class of 1980. He played football from the age of nine and lettered all four years in both football and track.
With a photographic memory he could cite sports statistics decades old. An avid fan of all sports he was an ardent Conway High School Supporter and bled orange for Clemson. It was in fishing in which he excelled and could often be spotted many a day, on the river,
on a pond, on a pier, on a lake, and sometimes on a tree limb in search of his next big catch. His knowledge of our great rivers was encyclopedic and his total take of Flathead Catfish is legendary. As the former owner of Fisherman's Headquarters in Conway, he
realized his dream of combining his lifelong love of fishing with his love of people with like interests. Jay treasured his customers, shared fish tales, and the memories made
sustained him during his battle with illness. A devout member of Waccamaw House of Worship, Jay was a born again Christian with a powerful testimony and had looked
forward to sharing his journey with other churches. He was predeceased by his father, Terry K. Booth, his paternal grandparents Morris and Selma Bean of Fl., and his
maternal grandparents Eugene and Ann Benton Appleby of SC.
Leaving him to mourn the death of her firstborn and only son, is his mother, Sandra Booth of Bucksport, and his father Perry Bean Sr. of Florida, along with sisters Morgan Booth Sellers and her husband Craig of Conway, Susan B. Serafin (Bert) of Washington DC, Lisa Williams (Hal), Toni Cooper (Brian) and Paulette Dunn. One brother Charles Perry Bean of Seffner Fl. and a stepson Mark. Jay had no children of his own but loved his family intensely and was a very big part of his nephew and nieces lives, among them, Robbie Serafin and Alex Magnusson of Sweden. Special nieces, Hannah Adams Williams of Asheville NC, Ashton Cooper of Myrtle Beach, and Tindall Booth Sellers" his baby girl " of Conway. A Great Niece, Kassidy Cooper and a Great Nephew ( finally another boy) Joshua David Williams of Asheville NC., as well as many other nieces and nephews. Our family would like to acknowledge with heartfelt thanks, Pastor Joe Young, his wife Linda,
Milford Marlowe, Jeff Silver, Wade Carter, Bucksport EMT , Larry Howell, the doctors and nurses of CMC And Waccamaw Hospital and all others, for the loving attention and care they gave Jay during and after his illness. There are no words to convey how much he will be missed. His spirit and influence in the lives of those he loved and new will never be forgotten and will live on.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, Jan. 20th at Thee Waccamaw House of Worship in the Bucksport Community with Rev. Joe Young officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Sunday, Jan. 19th at the Conway Chapel.

To Jay's family:
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. He was a good man. We did a lot of business with him when he was at Booth's printing and he always had a smile and when I was having a bad day, he would say don't worry, God will make a way. He was a sweet person. He will definitely be missed. May God be with you all.
