Pete Barsamian Obituary

Pete Barsamian passed away on Friday morning, May 2, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle against Leukemia. He never gave up nor com-plained. He touched the lives of many. He grew up in Yettem. He attended Lovell Ele-mentary School and graduated from Orosi High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Armed Forces shortly after High School and was stationed in Japan. After returning home from Japan he attended Reedley College. In 1951, he met and married the love of his life, Idalene Aldridge. Together they had five children. He was a long-standing member of St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church of Yettem, California. He served in various positions on the Church Board of Trustees and was a faithful servant who received the High Spirit Award for his dedication to the Church. His passion in life was farming. He enjoyed it until the last days of his life. Growing beautiful and great tasting produce was very important to him. His parents Hagop and Shooshan Barsamian, and his brother Kenneth Barsamian preceded him in death. He is survived by Idalene Barsamian, his wife of 57 years; his daughters, and sons-in-law, Lillian and Richard Safrazian, Ann and Steve Yahnian, Judy and Jerry Shapazian, Rosely and Steve Richmond; his son, Jack Barsamian; his grandchildren, Kayla and Blake Shapazian, Pete and David Safrazian, and Grant Richmond; his brother, Larry Barsamian, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel in Visalia on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church, 14395 Avenue 384, in Yettem Ca., on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church of Yettem P.O.
