Ralph Comer Obituary

Ralph W. Comer was born to Lee and Elsie Comer in Carlton, Kansas on February 6, 1910, and was one of eight children, four brothers and three sisters. He passed away at Caring Heart Residential Living under the care of Nancy Hines Hospice on Sunday, August 7, 2008. Ralph was raised in Kansas and moved to California in the mid 1930's. He attended Fresno Technical High School and upon graduation went to work as a lineman for PG&E and later as an assis-tant buyer for McKesson wholesale drug distributors. In the early 1940's Ralph joined the Fresno Fire Department where he worked approxi-mately 31 years. During this time he made many close friends who shared camaraderie for the out doors which included the Sierra Club and Four Wheel Drive Jeep Club. Ralph was a resident of the Fresno area for 91 years where he had many friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was equally at home in his speed boat at one of the local lakes or in his jeep in the high country. He was active in the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite Service organizations. He will long be remembered as a handy-man for giving of his time to help others. Ralph is preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters. He leaves his family which includes Florence his wife of 77 years; sons, Larry and his wife Carolyn of Kingsburg, California, and Dale and his wife Suzanne of Bass Lake, California; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Boice Funeral Home on Friday, Sep-tember 12, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Nancy Hinds Hospice, 1616 W. Shaw Ave. Ste C-1, Fresno, Ca. 93711.
