RICHARD FIORI Obituary

Richard Wayne Fiori, age 74, of Fresno, CA, passed away at his home on May 2, 2018. Rick served in the military from 1965 to 1967 as a gunner's mate on the USS Osborne in the Gulf of Tonkin. Later in life, he also served in the Navy Reserves. Rick was an avid tennis player most of his life, winning All Valley Champion in 1957, and playing in local tournaments well into his 50s at his beloved Roeding Park. You could find Rick most early mornings at the park with his dogs, tossing the Frisbee, having some coffee, and chatting with his fellow early-rising dog owners. Rick loved music and was First Chair clarinet in the Kingsburg and Fresno City College bands. A graduate of Fresno State, Rick retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 22 years working as a letter carrier. His quick wit, talents, and big personality will be missed. He is survived by his daughter, Kari Fiori; his wife, Earlene Fiori; his brothers, Bill and Larry Fiori; and his many nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to Kathy and Wally DelCarlo for their assistance over the last several years.

At Sequoia Jr. High, I first met Rick Fiori. Being an extremely shy person, he was first started our friendship by just saying "hi". What wonderful memories Rick gave me at Sequoia and at Roosevelt High. I was lucky to be his friend. As we both grew older, our lives came together again. My husband, Wallace, and I were able to take care of Rick during his last seven years. What a privilege it was to know him and his many kindnesses. Be at peace dear one and we will see you in Dog Heaven! Ciao My Friend.
Love, Kathy

Rick was a wonderful guy to get to know. I wish I could have gotten to know him even more, because he was blunt and to the point- which I loved!!! He left too soon!!! But I am glad he's no longer suffering and is with Baron. Heaven has gained an angel, and he will not be forgotten!! Im Kathleen DelCarlo's daughter- Alana.

Thank you, Jean. Earlene remembers you and thanks you for your kind words. It's always nice to hear memories from people who knew my dad. I've received a couple of emails, as well. I think he made an impression on people! Take care, Kari
