I sadly learned of Rich's passing in 2012. We last saw each other when he visited Seattle, Washington in about 2008. We were roommates in the dorms of San Francisco State University for about two years in 1973/74 and I considered him one of my closest friends in life despite our distance after University. I have tried greatly to search for someone he and I knew very well at SF State but have been unable to find that person. If someone would contact me I would greatly appreciate it as I am still today very stunned and upset at Rich's passing. Thanks very much. Ed Heywood ([email protected]). Rich was a truly great, great friend in my life!!! Thank you very much!!!
Rich, an awesome son & big brother; all of you that had an opportunity to cross paths with him, you were truly blessed; he's an inspiration for us all

He was a great friend to the students of the California Community Colleges, working to make the system help them succeed. He was a great counseling colleague and a good friend to me. I will miss him.

Richard was a beloved high school classmate - someone everyone was sincerely delighted to see at reunions because of his kindness, good humor, and integrity. My heart goes out to his family. I am so happy to have known him. Rest in peace.

Gary and I worked with Rich when he was a Counselor at Santa Rosa Junior College. He was an advocate for the students and tirelessly worked to help them achieve their goals. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Dr. Rose was a leader of integrity who believed in the mission of Modesto Junior College. He cared about our students and was persistent in his vision and advocacy for providing the educational opportunities and services needed for students to pursue their goals and be successful. He was also one of the least pretentious and most approachable leaders with whom I’ve had the privilege to work. He was a pleasure to know and to work for, with a wonderful sense of humor. California Community Colleges have lost a dear friend, and so have I. My heart and prayers go out to his family, whom he loved so much.
