RICHARD WONG Obituary

Richard Wong peacefully went home to Jesus while his family was by his side on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at age 61. He was raised in West Fresno by his parents Ming and Nancy Wong, he farmed Chinese vegetables with his seven siblings and parents. He was a Central Unified Grizzly, and Reedley College Tiger and part of the Patton Sheet Metal Family. Thirty years of his life were in the Sheet Metal Industry providing for his family. In retirement his last 9 years were spent swinging a golf club at Fig Garden Golf Club. Three years of chemo and radiation battling bladder cancer could not keep him off the course. A quiet man, a strong work ethic and a loyal friend too many, he also served faithfully at New Harvest Church in Clovis. Laughing with family, teasing siblings and nieces and nephews and watching his kids brought him great joy. While he did not understand the path God chose for him he believed God was good to him. The family would like to thank Dr Hackett and his compassionate staff at the St. Agnes Cancer Center for all of their care and support. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Jodi "Theresa"; his oldest son Adam and his wife Brooke and his two granddaughters Emmersyn and Madelyn of Fresno; his son Brian and his girlfriend Amber Morgan of San Luis Obispo; his precious daughter Sarah and soon to be son in law Travis Hunsaker of Clovis. A Memorial Service will be held at New Harvest Church 698 N. Minnewawa, Clovis, Ca. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Remembrances can be made to Hinds Hospice of Fresno Ca. (www.hindshospice.org) or Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network. (www.bcan.org) Farewell, 660 West Locust Avenue, Fresno, California (559)440-0484

I had the previlege of going to high school with richard and playing baseball together. Later we roomed together at Reedley college and had alot of laughs. About three years ago some of us got together and played golf with richard at fig garden golf course. He will be dearly missed. From Al Lucero.

I still remember the time when Rich and you came to Hawaii and worked on building the pool fence and walkway in Mary's back yard. We shares a few cool refeshments in the covered lani and talked about your fasmily and how talented Rich was in building all kinds of things with his hands. I thought then as I do now how nice and thoughtful it was of Rich to help his sister out when she needed him, as well as teasing her when ever he could. Those are the kind of things that he will be remembered for - making people smile and bringing laughter in their lives. And while it's going to be very difficult to think of this world without him, it is a happy thought knowing that wherever he is, he is only spreading happiness, and forever in our hearts and minds ~
