Robert Lundquist Obituary

Robert E. Lundquist
October 30, 1931 - May 22, 2021
Fresno, California - Robert E. Lundquist, age 89 of Fresno, California, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, after living a long and blessed life.
Robert was born on October 30, 1931, in Bakersfield California. He grew up on the family farm. He attended Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield Jr. College, where he played football and received a scholarship to the University of Denver, where he earned his B. A. degree in teaching.
He married his high school sweetheart, Connie and moved back to Bakersfield, taking a teaching position at North High School. Going back to his roots in agriculture, Bob worked in the cotton industry, for more than 45 years. In 1965 moved his family to Fresno, CA and worked for Producers Cotton Oil Company, eventually becoming Vice President and General Manager of South Lake Farms, the company's farming subsidiary. Bob served on the Board of Directors of the California Westside Farmers, was President of the Devils Den water District and a director of various water entities in Fresno and Kings Counties. After retiring, he continued to work in Crop Insurance for an additional 15 years.
Bob's love of family kept him active and involved. Along with his encouragement, he was always ready to coach a team and drive near or far to support activities. Bob had a passion for playing golf, belonging to Kings County Club and later Belmont Country Club. He played as often as possible and enjoyed many moments on the links at Morro Bay, with family and friends. Bob was patient and kind, always with a smile and time to sincerely care about those he encountered… A true gentleman.
Bob is survived by his wife, Connie, of 69 years; daughter, Debra Mehling; preceded in death by his son, Darin. Surviving daughter-in-law, Dina Lundquist; granddaughters, Lucy Bremer and husband, Dan; Haley Lundquist; Brother, Gene Lundquist and wife, Susan; Nephews, Mike Payne and wife, Lorrie; Nels Lundquist and wife, Bethany; and many relatives and friends.
A private graveside service was held at Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno California.
