Roger Petersen Obituary

Roger Petersen
June 1, 1937 - June 15, 2021
Clovis, California - Roger Petersen passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, June 15th, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born in Alhambra, California to the parents of James and Edna Petersen. He graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a B.S. in Economics. Roger married the love of his life, Roxie, and lived in Clovis for over fifty years where they raised 4 beautiful children who have all remained Clovis strong. Roger is survived by his wife Roxie; son Grant and wife Kristin, their children, Kealy, Cole, Trey and Natalie; daughter Carolyn, her husband Dan (Triplett), their son Dustin; daughter Kathleen, her husband Matt (Spain) their children Rachel and husband Jacob (Vieira) Ryan, and Dylan; grandsons Grant and Blake Asadoor. Preceded in death, by their oldest daughter, Susan, who passed away in 2014.
Roger and Roxie were incredibly involved in the Clovis community and are one of the areas longtime families. There were many trips up to the high Sierras, to their cabin in Shaver Lake, and the "Sandcastle" in Pebble Beach. Roger was also active in the Clovis Rodeo. He managed the judging of the Clovis Rodeo parade since the early 80's and was a large supporter of the traditional event. Rodeo weekend was one of his favorite times of the year.
Roger has certainly left his mark. Petersen Investments was formed over forty years ago. His passion for building commercial properties is evident throughout the area. The completion of his last project, the Centennial Building in downtown Clovis, will forever remind us of the devotion he had for Clovis. Roger has always been an old school handshake businessman who appreciated the relationships more than the deal. In business, Roger was always considered very honest and fair with everyone he dealt with. His projects are still highly prized for their architecture and quality.
In recent years Roger has combined his true passions, raising cattle and spending time with his large growing family. He purchased his first calves back in college, which has evolved into a successful cattle ranch known as Petersen Ranches. It was quite common to see Roger with his grandchildren and friends gathering and branding the cattle on horseback. No matter how hard everyone was working, you would see "Bompa" lending a hand. As his family grew, so did his ranches. He had always envisioned a large cattle ranch with his family, and he accomplished this goal. If you asked him, he would say that was the most gratifying project he ever completed.
A graveside service and burial will be held at Academy Cemetery, Wednesday, June 30th, 2021 at 10:00am.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Roger. I have such fond memories of him, particularly at the family home on Bond and at Henry´s stables and horse shows in the 70´s. He was always so kind and helpful. I remember how Roger and Roxie always kissed their children good-bye and how much Roger enjoyed his red Porsche (Susan loved that car too).

Next to my own father, Roger was the greatest man I have ever known. To the Petersen family, my deepest condolences in this difficult time. Roger can rest well knowing he did the absolute best a man could do for his family and community.

Roger gave me my first start for commercial landscape maintenance back in 1990, and I thank him. To Roxie and Grant so sorry for your loss.
