Fresno, California - Rosemary Hakes Neff passed away on March 6, 2021, following a 7-year battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Newfoundland, Canada, to Monica & Henry Hakes, she was the oldest of 6 children and grew up traveling across the United States and Canada while her father served in the United States Air Force.
Rosemary married Randy Neff on July 24, 1969. They welcomed their daughter, Amy, in 1976 and their son, Bryan, in 1980. Rosemary worked in real estate for nearly 40 years and retired as a Senior Escrow Officer in 2008. Those who worked with her described her as the utmost professional with strong ethics and eagle-eyed attention to detail.
Rosemary's greatest joy was welcoming her four grandsons, William, Treven, Andrew, and Dylan, between 2008 and 2011. They were truly the apples of her eye. She adored being a grandmother and her boys miss her deeply.
Rosemary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Randy, her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Alex Balmanno, her son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Stephanie Neff, and her grandsons, William and Andrew Balmanno, and Treven and Dylan Neff. She is also survived by her two younger sisters, Coleen Van Guilder and Trudy Brown, two younger brothers, Steve and John Hakes, her brother- and sister-in-law, Jerry and Karen Neff, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monica and Henry Hakes, and her in-laws, Kenneth and Mildred Neff. She was there to greet her younger brother, Jim, who passed away on May 12, 2021.
Rosemary will be interred at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery and a celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date. Remembrances can be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association or to the organization of donor's choice.
