Sally Forrester Lang Farris peacefully lost her courageous two year battle with lung cancer on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Fresno on January 2, 1936, to Sherman and Frances Forrester. After graduating from Fresno High School she married Bill Lang and they had two children, Robert and Karen. Bill preceded her in death in 1982.
Sally received her A.B. degree and secondary teaching credential from Fresno State College and her Master's degree in Educational Administration from Fresno Pacific University.
Sally married Don Farris in 1987, and provided him with the best 20 years and eight months of his life.
Sally spent 36 years as a classroom teacher and Guidance and Learning Director for the Fresno Unified School District. She was a warm and gracious person who helped many students. She loved gardening, flowers, decorating, cooking, entertaining, reading, animals and taking trips with her husband.
Sally is survived and greatly missed by a loving family, her husband, Don Farris; son, Robert Lang and his wife, Marsha; daughter, Karen Lemon and her husband Joseph; sister, Mary Ann Brigham and her husband Bob; and grandchildren, Chelsea, Jennifer, Madison, Dannah, Jared, Melissa, Steven, Sandra and Rebecca.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Peter Wittlinger and the staff at Hematology Oncology Medical Group for Sally's excellent and sensitive care.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at the First Congregational Church of Fresno, 2131 N. Van Ness Boulevard on Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 2:00 p.m.
