Shirley Hoehn Obituary

Hoehn, Shirley ENCINITAS -- Shirley Hoehn, 88, passed away at her home on October 6, 2014, surrounded by family. Her children Jay, Cathy, Ricky and Randy survive Shirley. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren and twelve great- grandchildren. Shirley was a longtime active member of Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, as well as a volunteer for many years at Scripps Encinitas Hospital. Her devotion to her church and endless volunteer work were exceeded only by her dedication to family. Shirley and her husband Walt loved to travel. Her last trip was a cruise to Canada only two weeks prior to her passing. A memorial service will be held at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 17, at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to Scripps Hospice, P.O. Box 2669, La Jolla, CA 92038 or call 858-678-6340.

I have always had the utmost appreciation for Shirley's "can-do-it" attitude. She was the oldest volunteer at KidsGames, a summer day camp held at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church. In 2003, when KG began, Shirley volunteered as a "Kid-Connector," escorting and shepherding her group of 20 youngsters from one station activity to the next. In later years, when walking became difficult, Shirley volunteered as a Station Leader. She was an inspiration to many!!

Shirley and Walt were wonderful neighbors to my parents, Frank and Anne Simon. It was always comforting to know they were all there looking out for each other.

Sending prayers for Shirley and her family.
