Susan Rae Carstens McCline

November 11, 1929 - May 10, 2025

San Diego, California - Susan Rae Carstens McCline, of Fresno, passed away peacefully in San Diego on May 10, 2025, at age 95. Born November 11, 1929, she was raised in Fresno and preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robin Gay McCline, and her brothers, Bob and Jerry Carstens.

A founding member of the Fresno Art Museum, she served on its board for decades, including as president, and remained active through 2018. She was awarded the Fresno Arts Council's Horizon "Citizen" Award for her deep commitment to the arts community.

Sue exhibited her artwork across the Central Valley, with shows at Arte Américas, Kings Art Center, Fresno City Hall, Madera Circle Gallery "Celebrate Agriculture" exhibits, and more.

Her watercolors and acrylicsoften focused on landscapes and animalsreflected her quiet humor and keen observation.

She will be remembered for her steady presence, thoughtful grace, dedication to her family, and the care she showed through her actions.

She is survived by her children, Matt, Carrie, and Rob McCline; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fresno Art Museum in Sue's honor.
