Tommy Saghatelian Obituary

TOMMY SEMPOT SAGHATELIAN April 20, 1920 July 22, 2006 Our beloved "Pop-pop" passed away from a sudden heart attack on Saturday, July 22, 2006, doing what he loved, eating, telling stories, surrounded by family. Tommy was 86 years old, and truly lived his life to the fullest. Dad was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy and was on board the President Coolidge when it sank in the Pacific Theater. He met his love Millie through music in 1945. Through the old jukebox, dad requested songs, and mom was the Phonotel operator who played them. He asked her out using song titles, and she finally said yes. They were married in 1951 and together for 55 years. As the former owner of Leon & Tommy's Old Fresno Tavern, the Old Fresno Hofbrau, the Silver Dollar Hofbrau, and Leon's Bar, "Sump" never met a stranger. He was predeceased by his parents, Gazair and Hyganoosh, Armenian immigrants who made a life for their children through the Valley Bakery; his brothers Samuel, Snar "Jimmy-Coach", and Sirak "Sid"; and sister, Satenig Lucinian and her husband Luke. Send Me A Song Take the wave now and know that you're free. Turn you're back on the land, face the sea. Face the wind now so wild and so strong. When you think of me wave to me and send me a song. He is survived by his precious Mildred; children, Debra Naworski and her husband Bernie, Leon Saghatelian, and Tommi Robin Agnes Saghatelian; stepdaughter Sandra; grand- children, Lloyd Cannon, Josh Miller, and Brady and Kylie Schmidt; sister, Janet Saghatelian; nieces, Agnes Wilson and her husband Ryan, and Nancy and Joanie Lucinian; nephew, Larry Lucinian and his wife Willie; sister-in-law, Ginger Saghatelian; and nephews, Jamie and Ryan Saghatelian. A Celebration of Dad's Life will be held at the Silver Dollar on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. NEPTUNE SOCIETYOF CENTRAL CACREMATION - MEMORIAL CHAPEL(559)222-7764 (800)225-1604 #1332
