Vonnie Franks Obituary
December 3, 1941 - December 20, 2024
Fresno, California - Vonnie Franks, a beloved member of the community, passed away peacefully in Fresno, CA, on December 20, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born on December 3, 1941, in Dinuba, CA, where she also spent her formative years.
Vonnie was a proud graduate of Dinuba High School, Class of 1959. Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to serve, she continued her education at Reedley College and then Vanguard College in Costa Mesa, CA, earning her bachelor's degree in 1965.
Vonnie made a career at the Fresno County Probation Department, retiring as a Deputy Probation Officer IV. Her dedication to her work as a Probation Officer was done with passion and integrity.
She lived abundantly as a retiree, volunteering for Exceptional Parents Unlimited and The Fresno-Madera Agency on Aging.
Vonnie will be remembered for her passion for reading and traveling extensively to exotic places such as China, Israel, New Zealand and England.
She is predeceased by her parents, Lee and Gladys Franks.
She is survived by her sisters, Joan Merchen and Glenda Hastings, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life banquet will be held at Ovidio's Italian Restaurant, in Fresno, on January 25, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fresno-Madera Agency on Ageing in Vonnie's memory.

I worked at the sheriff's office and knew Vonnie. She was a great woman and we were supposed to get together for lunch but never did. She will be missed.
