WALTER BERNARD BOWERS

Walter was born on June 20, 1923, in Athens, AL and died on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in Fresno, CA. Walter served in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the submarine Sea Lion in the Pacific. He moved to Cleveland, OH after the war where he met and married Helen Linsalata. They moved to Fresno in 1959. He was a devoted husband and father. He was a brick mason by trade but a farmer at heart. He derived no greater pleasure than working in his garden. He is survived by Helen, his wife of 60 years; sons, Larry and his wife Karen of San Diego, and Philip of Fresno; daughters, Sue Hall and her husband Ossie of Abaco, Bahamas, and Toni Bissonnette and her husband Bob of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, eight grandchildren, Lauren, Nico, Josh, Brandon, Jessica, Austin, Natalie and Emily; and siblings, Katherine Raney, Joyce Hart, Vernice Huntley, Gerald Bowers, and Ardelia Cherry.
