WARREN S. ENOCHIAN Warren, a resident of Sonoma County for over 50 years, was born in Fresno on April 26, 1923, and passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the family home in Fresno, at age 83. His ties to Fresno remained strong throughout his life and his desire to visit his hometown to renew youthful memories was foremost in his mind. He traveled to Fresno with his brother Robert and enjoyed two joyful days with family and friends and was anticipating a third day of meaningful contacts, however, in the early morning hours of the third day, he succumbed to a heart attack. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Vaughn B. Enochian. In 1940, Warren graduated from Fresno High School; in 1942 he completed two years at Fresno State College and, in 1944, graduated from University California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1946, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy having served two years in the Pacific Theater. Following his military service, he began his professional engineering career in San Jose, California with Food Machinery Corporation. While there, he met Lois Galloway and, in 1953, they married in Camas, Washington (Lois' hometown), resulting in 53 years of marriage and four children. In 1954, Warren was hired as a Mechanical Engineer by Rietz Manufacturing Co. in Santa Rosa, thus necessitating a family move. Santa Rosa became a perfect fit for the growing family. Eventually, Warren bought acreage in neighboring Sebastopol and settled into country living. He started the Enochian Christmas Tree Farm on Vine Hill Road; he dabbled in Bonsai plantings; he cultivated an abundance of fruits and vegetables; and he sheltered pets and animals on his land. He was civic-minded, attended meetings, offered resolutions to "thorny" issues (always opting for the good of many), he volunteered at the Food Bank, the Chamber of Commerce, and housed and guided foreign students in their quest for education. In later years, when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he became active in the Parkinson's support group of Sonoma County. Warren's greatest service was to his family and to his church. He lived life according to his favorite scripture, James 2:14-17, the essence of which is: "What does it profit if a man says he has faith, but has not works?"... "So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead." Warren is survived by his wife Lois; their four children, Glenn of Corvallis, Oregon, Gary of Santa Rosa, Gail of Glendale, and Gigi of Windsor; their spouses; 11 grandchildren, his brother Robert of Walnut Creek; and his sister Gloria of Fresno. A poignant Memorial Service was held at the Forestville United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 24, 2006. A note of remembrance would be appreciated by Lois at 4800 Vine Hill Rd., Sebastopol, Ca. 95472. Or donations may be made to the Forestville United Methodist Church, 6550 Covey Rd., Forestville, Ca. 94536, or the Parkinson's Support Group of Sonoma County, c/o B.
