WILEY WHITLEY Obituary

Wiley Bret Whitley was born in September of 1966, in Marysville, CA. He passed away at age 49, on Saturday, October 10, 2015, in Fresno, CA. Bret went to school in Paradise, CA, and graduated from high school in Lampasas, TX, where he played football and hunted on the Smith Ranch with his dad. He continued to maintain close friendships with his friends from Lampasas throughout the years. After moving back to California, he worked as a car salesman where he met his best friend, Jeff Petersen. He then got his contractor's license and had his own business, Whitco Coverings and Installations. He worked at this trade until assuming care for his mother. Bret loved Jesus; music and guitars; deer camp, hunting, fishing, and camping; Facebook and talking with friends; his pets, Maggie May, Stevie Ray, and Soot; and especially family. He loved his family. During his last year, Bret found community and support through AA. His faith, his friends, and his family were the most important things in his life. Bret was preceded in death by infant brothers, Christopher and Ethan Whitley; his grandparents; and his aunts, Prebble Dudley, Jean Mathis, Elaine Adams, and Donna Mullins. Bret is survived by his mother, Beverly June Peoples; his father and step-mother, Wiley Mac and Marna Whitley; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg Reid and Rachel Wilson from Eagle, ID, Luke and Beth Reid from Chico, CA, and Jeff and Dawn Reid of Chico, CA; nieces and nephews, Wiley Scott Reid, Maia Reid, Avery Reid, Lauryn Reid, and Kaden White; aunts and uncles, Jim and Shirley Whitley, Gale Dudley, Dale and Paula Black, Tim and Cheri Hubbard, Ren and Pam Hubbard, Adrian and Wanda Adams, and Virginia Miranda; and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his best friends, Jeff and Jolene Petersen, and their daughters, Chelsea and Ashley, who considered Bret their brother and uncle. Our heartfelt thanks go to Jeff and Jolene Petersen; Bob; Dr. Jeffery Hubbard; AA; St. Agnes Medical Center and Hospice; Mum's Home Sweet Home; Daryl Mumford; and Daphne Jones. We couldn't have made this journey without you. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bret's life will be held at Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, 430 Peach Ave., Clovis, CA, on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Donations may be made to Lampasas High School Scholarship Fund, Linda Null, Reference Bret Whitley, 2716 South Highway 281, Lampasas, TX 76550; Samaritan's Purse, Operation Heal Our Patriots, http://bit.ly/1Gem7ex; or Agros International, an investment in self sustaining, resilient families and communities that are not dependent on external aid in Central and South America, 2225 Fourth Ave, Second Floor, Seattle, WA 98121, [email protected], 206-528-1006.
