William Reddington Obituary
William Reddington
March 24, 1960 - September 14, 2023
Fresno, California - Bill Reddington passed away, unexpectedly, on September 14th at the age of 63 from a sudden cardiac event. Born in Scranton, PA, he was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School, The University of Scranton, and Villanova University. When moving to Philadelphia in 1986, he met his future wife, Lura, when subletting her apartment. The couple moved to Fresno, CA, in 1993 when Lura opened her OB GYN practice. He established his new business, Reddington Business Valuation. While not a native of Fresno, he became an established and valued member of the community.
An avid cyclist, he was a member of the Fresno Cycling Club and would edit the monthly newsletter for members. Time spent in the Santa Cruz area was especially cherished and he often attended Resurrection Catholic Church. He spent the last month celebrating with family and friends at the weddings of his son and daughter-in-law on August 26th in Boulder, CO, and his niece's in Scranton, PA, on September 9th.
Bill described his own father as, "A true gentleman, he guided his children with his character, dignity, kindness and quiet strength. He was happiest when he was helping others." The same could be said for Bill. He was a devoted husband and father, supporting his wife and family in all their endeavors. His children were the most important thing in his life. He adored shared experiences of bike rides, watching horse competitions, long beach walks, and making great meals together. Bill was the glue that held his family together. He leaves a vast hole in so many lives, but his memory will continue to strengthen and inspire.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Scanlon Reddington in 1996 and John M. Reddington in 2012. He is survived by his wife, Lura Justice Reddington, his son and daughter-in-law, Connor and Kristin, and his daughters, Elizabeth and Carolyn. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Jeff Parlo, their son Garrett, and his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Tom Reilly, and their daughters Grace and Kate, as well as many cousins.
A memorial service is being planned for mid October in Fresno. Please look for updates online at Farewell Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Fresno Food Bank and Covenant house.
