Melanie DeLand Obituary
March 9, 1974 - July 5, 2025
Melanie Dawn "Mel" DeLand, 51, passed away on July 5, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, due to complications from Type 1 diabetes. Born on March 9, 1974, in Anchorage, Alaska, Melanie brought joy and creativity into the lives of those around her.
A woman of deep faith, Melanie expressed her devotion through her artistic abilities and love for music. A talented sketch artist, she captured the beauty of everyday life. Her radiant smile and infectious laugh left a lasting impression wherever she went.
Melanie had a special bond with animals and was known for her gentle heart and open spirit. Her compassion touched all living beings and made her a cherished presence in many lives.
Family was the cornerstone of Melanie's world. She deeply loved her daughter, Genessa Martin, and treasured her grandchildren: Arianna and Aleksander of Benton, Arkansas; and Max and Eric Martin of Freedom, California.
She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Terri DeLand Barrett and Chris Barrett of Benton, Arkansas; her brothers Benjamin Butt (Mary Hill) of Benton, Arkansas, and Brandon Goodwin (Kiera) of California; and the love of her life, John Lynch of Phoenix, Arizona.
Melanie was preceded in death by her grandparents Ted and Gloria DeLand; Truman and Hazel Goodwin; and her aunt Linda Robertson.
Her legacy endures through the laughter she shared, the art she created, the songs she loved and the love for her family. Melanie's memory will continue to bring comfort to those who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. May she rest in eternal peace.
