Michael Halla Obituary

Michael Roy Halla
February 16, 1957 - May 31, 2025
Talkeetna, Alaska. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael R. Halla. Michael was tall, handsome, funny, athletic, well read and very intelligent. He was mechanically inclined, a carpenter, a gardener, an HVAC technician, avid fisherman and hunter, and an all-around interesting human being. He was a true Alaskan in every sense and loved the outdoors and nature. He was an avid birdwatcher and loved animals (especially Black Labs) and they gravitated to him in return, sensing his gentle nature.
Michael is survived by his sons Michael Halla and Marcus Halla, his daughters in law Alexandra McGee and Alicia Goldberger, his beloved grandchildren Elijah, Tobias, Adele and Aurora Halla. He also leaves behind his siblings and their life partners Joseph and Susan Guay, William Bancroft and Brenda Austin, Gina and Tom Piper, Judy Piper and Gary Jones. He also leaves many adored nieces and nephews. Michael and Barbara also leave behind their loving and kindhearted friend, Nancy Trump.
Michael was predeceased by his beautiful infant daughter Lindsey Elizabeth in 1981, the mother of his children Patricia Wallace in early 2020, his best friend and life partner Barbara Mercer in late 2020, as well as many beloved pups. Michael lost his mother, Jeanne Bancroft in 1986, his father Raymond Halla in 1991, his younger brother Larry Bancroft in 1992, his older brother Thomas Guay in 1993, his younger sister Marie Halla in 2008, and his older brother Robert Guay in 2016.
Michael was a loving, gentle, sweet and sensitive man who will be terribly missed. He loved to surprise his family in Massachusetts in the early morning hours flying in from Alaska with coolers full of Alaskan King Crab, salmon, and moose meat! He also loved making French toast for his younger siblings before they headed off to school with happy smiles and full bellies. Michael was a loving and devoted grandfather, father, brother, uncle and friend.
We will all take comfort in one of his sayings, "It will be okay."
Another favorite was "Toodle loo, Caribou".
Memorial services are to be planned in the future along with a celebration of his incredible life.

Michael was like a big brother to me. When my siblings left home and got married, it was good to have another one there.
