Stephen Foster Obituary

Longtime Eagle River and Wasilla resident Stephen Gregory Foster, 54, passed away suddenly on April 1, 2024, at home. A celebration of Life will be held at Gateway Christian Fellowship, 9191 E. Frontage Road, Palmer, Alaska, in the same building as Sophia's Café, on May 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

Steve was born April 23, 1969, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Steve and Karen Foster (Thompson). He attended Peters Creek Christian School and graduated from Chugiak High School in 1987.

Steve has worked in the food service industry for many years, including working for Red Robin for 12 years in Anchorage, Nashville, and Wasilla, and the last several years as General Manager of the Wasilla Restaurant.

He devoted his entire life aspiring to be a successful country musician. His children and his music are his legacy.

Steve's family wrote: "Steve's love for his children and sister, as well for his mother, Karen and her husband Bob Thompson, his integrity and generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to his loved ones. Steve was fully ensconced in Star Wars and pop culture memorabilia. He was forever a kid at heart."

He is survived by his son, Travis Hirons (Lily), of South Dakota, daughters Amanda Schilling of Portland, Oregon, Melody Foster of Wasilla, and Emma Schmoke of Anchorage; his sister, Wendi Thompson and niece Jackie Manwell (Dylan), all of Gresham, Oregon, cousins Jennifer Hoover (Michael) of Oklahoma, David Wertz and Holly Sweeney of Texas; his aunt, Gail Atwater of Wasilla, his Uncle Bud Tillyer of Melbourne, Florida, and his mother, Karen Thompson, who lives in Wasilla. His Father, Stephen James Foster, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, his family would prefer donations to the American Heart Association, 4300 B Street, Suite 212, Anchorage Alaska 99503.
