Born on March 16, 1948, in Everett, Washington, Thomas was the son of Arnold and Belma (Surface) Engstrom. On November 15, 1969, he married Marilyn (Wood) Engstrom. Together they shared over 55 years of marriage filled with love and resilience.

Tom and I grew up on South Whidbey and were the same age. He.took me fishing on Deer Lake at the age of seven where I caught my first fish. We shared the same life styles as close cousins living 2 miles apart. I will always admire his love of nature, family and frontiersman spirit. Alaska was the perfect place to spend his life with Marilyn. My condolences to your family. The original (old) Dave Surface
