William Powers Obituary

William (Bill) Powers
January 30, 1945 - January 30, 2025
William (Bill) Powers passed away on January 30th 2025 on his 80th birthday. He joined the army in 1963 and served as a communications advisor in Vietnam. He completed his service in Alaska and called Talkeetna his home for sixty years. He wore many titles throughout his life: heavy equipment operator, fire chief, outdoor enthusiast, dog musher, dad, husband, brother, grandpa and great grandpa were some of his favorites. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Sonja, his son Kevin, his daughter in law Mary, sister Dorie Eikos and brother Pat. He is survived by his siblings Rita Fischer, Mary (Jerry) Hahn, Tom (LaVonne), Rich (Terri), his wife Debbie, his children Doug, Leah (Joe), Joseph (Amanda), Carey (Linda), Bill (Sandra), Chris (Alison), Craig (Amber), Becky (John). As well as 22 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
A memorial and ice cream social will be held in memory of Bill and his good friend Frank O'Brien at Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center on April 6th at 2:00., 16463 E Helena Ave Talkeetna.

Bill had a unique sense of humor, even on the darkest days. He kept his motorcycle in the house to remind him of the nice days ridden. Always thinking of better days. RIP Bill .
