Ruby Lee Smith, 76, of Brookston, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at Franciscan Health of Lafayette. She was born Jan. 30, 1946, in White County to the late Ira B. and Marjorie E. (Nice) Qualls. Ruby was a 1964 graduate of Brookston High School.
Her marriage was to Ralph E. Smith on June 26, 1965, in the Nazarene Church of Frankfort. They would later divorce.
Ruby was a member of Grace Community Baptist Church of Monticello. She was employed with Kay Company working with silk screening presses for 32 years until her retirement in 2012. Ruby enjoyed spending time doing word searches, traveling, and loved time spent with her family.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Tonya (James) Foster of Delphi; grandchildren, Joe (Shawna) Foster of West Lafayette and Justin (Hannah) Foster of Lafayette; great-grandson, Leo Foster. She is also survived by sisters, Lois Pickett of Battle Ground, Sandra Maas of Brookston, Carolyn Ferguson of Brookston, and sister-in-law, Joyce Shrock of Frankfort.
Preceding her in death along with her parents is a brother, Robert E. Qualls.
Friends may call from 10 AM (EST)until the time of Funeral Service 12 PM (EST) Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Interment to follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette. Pastor Gary Roberts of Grace Community Baptist Church to officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ruby's name to the Grace Community Baptist Church or to the family of Ruby Smith.
