Anne Stokes Obituary

Anne P. Stokes, 79, Sumter, S.C., died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at her home.

Born in Gadsden, she was a daughter of the late Gilmer P. Phillips and the late Inez B. Phillips. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as piano player for the Frasier Edmunds Sunday School class. Ms. Stokes was a very active member and past president of the Sumter Pilot Club. She was also a volunteer for the Sumter County Literacy Program.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Price Moles (Sandra Gail), Gadsden, and Joel Rand Stokes (Linda H.), Sumter, S.C.; four grandchildren, Robert Shane Moles (Shannon), Dustin Price Moles (Cassie), William Grant Gibbons (Marcy) and Christopher Wade Gibbons (Cantey); five great-grandchildren, Randi Nicole Moles, Taylor Nicole Moles, Skylar Jade Moles, McKenzie Moles and Hanna Grace Gibbons; a sister, Patricia Schomp, Gadsden; and others very close to her, D. Ray Stokes, Yoshi Bellanger and Chris Silva.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Elizabeth Moles.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

The family will receive friends at the home, 190 Linran Lane, Sumter, S.C.
