Charles Thornton Obituary

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Pell City, for Charles Eugene "Charlie" Thornton II, 49, who died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, of a heart attack. The Rev. Terry Bentley will officiate. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.

Charlie was a 1976 graduate of Emma Sansom High School. He has been in the catering business in Texas and Georgia for many years. He also had C&C Car Care business in Gadsden. Charlie loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Thornton.

He is survived by his mother, Colleen Thornton, Gadsden; sister, Rita Thornton, Gadsden; brother, Mark Thornton, Gadsden; children, Scott and Teela Thornton; nephew, Joshua Thornton; aunts and uncles, Dr. R.E. (Peggy) Simpson, Huntsville, Almus Thornton, Anniston, Charles H. (Mada) Willis, Gadsden, Katie Thornton, Wellington, Evelyn Thornton, Daphne, Chris Green, Montgomery, Dolly (Billy) Graham; and numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Charlie was a great cousin, I have a lot of good memories of him, he seemed to always be smiling and laughing when he was growing up, I know he is at rest now
