Connett Kirby Obituary
Mr. Kirby was a World War II Navy veteran. He retired from LTV Steel with 36 years of service. He continued to work after retirement for Osborn Transportation for more than 17 years. He was a member of White Springs Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvin and Myrtle Kirby.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda Kirby; son, Jeff (Jenny) Kirby, Birmingham; daughter, Tina (Dale) Stracener, Rainbow City; grandsons, Tyler Stracener, M.D., Winston-Salem, N.C., Brodie Stracener, Rainbow City, Chandler Kirby, Birmingham; granddaughters, Jana (Shea) Chisolm, Lincoln, Abbey Kirby, Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Katherine Chisolm, Ruston, La., Emma and Connor Chisolm, Lincoln; sister, Melvis Kirby, Oneonta.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Campbell, Lonzo Jacks, Randy Hood, Kenneth Stracener, grandsons, Brodie Stracener and Chandler Kirby.
Special thanks to Collinsville Nursing Home and Rehab and Lawley Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service today at the funeral home.

I have a lot of memories of Mr. Kirby from years ago when I was growing up in Curtiston. He always seemed to be smiling/happy. May God bless you all.

I too worked with Mr. Kirby at Osborn and just thought the world of him. He was always so kind to everyone and taking some under his wings. I always enjoyed talking to him and listening to a few stories he shared. No one needs to worry about Mr. Kirby now cause he is right there with his GOD. Bonnie Groover
