Danny Hamilton Obituary

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel for Danny Lee Hamilton, 71, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012. Pastor Clint Vaughn and the Rev. Matt Griffith will officiate. Burial will follow in Hokes Bluff Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home is in charge.
Danny was born in Etowah County and lived most of his life in Hokes Bluff. He graduated from Hokes Bluff High School in 1959, where he met and married the love of his life, Peggy Sims, in 1960. They lived in Hokes Bluff until 1962. They then moved to Mableton, Ga., where they made many new friends and remained friends with people who had moved there from Hokes Bluff. Danny worked for Southeastern Drywall as foreman for many years. He was a member of Gordon Road Baptist Church and of Austell Masonic Latham Lodge No. 12 F&A.M. While living there in 1977, they decided to move back to their roots in Hokes Bluff, the old Hamilton home place. He was employed with Boatner Construction until his retirement in 2003.
Danny was a member of Midway Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher of teens and adults. Studying the Bible and teaching was his passion. He liked to garden and share what God blessed him with. He also liked to fish with his friends and cheer the Bama football team to a win with his family.
Danny was preceded in death by his beloved granddaddy, Alon Gunter; loving parents, Hobart and Cordeal Hamilton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, B.H. and Gertrude Sims; sister-in-law, Henri Hill Hamilton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy Sims Hamilton; son, Danny Mark (Sebrena) Hamilton, of Alexandria; daughter, Pam Hamilton (Eric) Ford, of Ragland; grandchildren, Kyle Hamilton, Megan Ford, Nicholas Ford and Seth McAdams; brothers, Gerald (Linda) Hamilton, Kenneth (Sandra) Hamilton; brother-in-law, Wayne (Lois) Sims; sister, Brenda (Jimmy) Pritchett; special daughter, Fay Weaver Inman, and son, Van Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Andy Smith, Bobby Kirk, Alton Maddox, Nathan Stevens, David Gober and Dwayne Maddox.
Special thank you to Amedysis Hospice, Dr. Sancheti and staff, and Dr. Sengar and staff.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
