David Rector Obituary

David W. Rector, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at his home.
Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, with a funeral service at 3 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (402 Waugoo Ave). Family and friends are invited to a reception following the service at the Paine Art Center and Gardens.
David was born in Frankfurt, Germany, to Rondal and Christa Rector on Nov. 10, 1973. He went to school at the Regent Language School in Frankfurt, Germany, and held a translator license for German and French languages. He graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor's degree in political science in December 1998. In August 1997, two lives were forever changed when David met Michelle Polebitski at Indiana State University. On June 11, 2005, surrounded by their family and friends, they were married in Oshkosh at the Paine Art Center and Gardens. He later joined the security staff of the Paine and worked in this role for nine years, welcoming and assisting visitors. David enjoyed the fine arts and supporting local arts within the community. He was well read and enjoyed traveling, cooking and a nice glass of wine.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Christa Rector.
David is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Rector; his father, Rondal Rector (Gadsden); parents-in-law, Richard and Christine Polebitski (Merrill, Wisconsin); siblings-in-law: David Polebitski, Scott and Suzy Polebitski, Megan and Dan Kaminski, and Melissa Polebitski and Peter Throm. Dave loved being an uncle to his nephews, Drew and Peter, and his niece, Madison, as well as many friends' children, including being a "birthday buddy" with his best friend's son.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Paine Art Center and Gardens.
The family of David wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Oshkosh Fire Department, EMTs and Police Department.
