Gerald Thacker Obituary

Cryptside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at Crestwood Mausoleum for Gerald Wayne Thacker, 56, of Gadsden, who passed away December 16, 2013. The Rev. Anthony Copeland will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Mausoleum. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.
Gerald Wayne was a 1976 graduate of Gadsden High School. He attended Gadsden State Community College and Auburn University, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. Before he became disabled, he worked as a machinist and truck driver. He was an avid Alabama fan.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Newman and Marjorie Thacker and O.A. and Stella Hood; stepfather, Collins Burgess.
He is survived by mother, Jo Anne Burgess; father, Gerald H. (Carolyn) Thacker; sisters, Gloria Ann Deason and Jolie Thacker; niece, Aja Deason; nephew, Andrew Deason; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service.

I was sorry to hear about Gerald's passing. I knew him at GSJC in the mid 70s. He was a fun guy to hang around with. I'm sure he will be missed.
