Hoyt Butler Obituary
Mr. Butler was a lifelong resident of Gadsden and attended the Tennessee Military Institute and the University of Alabama. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a private man who accepted his illness as God's plan with strength and dignity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt L. Butler Sr. and Annie Laurie Butler; sister, Jeanne Butler Summerford; and son-in-law, Tommy Brazeal.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Butler, Gadsden; son, Trey (Beth) Butler, Charlotte, N.C.; daughters, Becky Brazeal, Birmingham, and Laure Butler, Gadsden; grandchildren, Cley Butler, Charlotte, N.C., Cheney (Steve) Hickey, Atlanta, and Pary (Daniel) Payne, Birmingham; and great-granddaughters, Reagan and Reese Hickey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the flower fund at First Baptist Church of Gadsden.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the hour of service today at the cemetery.
