Jesse Swanger Obituary
Mr. Swanger was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Republic Steel/LTV with 37 years of service. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol Wren Swanger; daughters and sons-in-law, Nanette and Mike Bumgarner and Jennifer and Darryl Gossett; son, Bryan Swanger; grandchildren, Evan and Wade Gossett, Amy Bumgarner and Jesse Beavers; brothers, Gordon (Barbara Ann) Swanger, Frank (Linda) Swanger and Phillip Swanger; sister-in-law, Carol Lee Swanger; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and family.
Special thanks to Gadsden Regional Hospice and DaVita Dialysis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty United Methodist building fund, 1188 Alford Bend Road, Hokes Bluff, AL 35903.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Carol and Family,
I am saddened by your loss. I remember Jesse from as far back as Elliott Grammar School. He was in my older brother's class. Jesse was always a very nice and kind person. He will be greatly missed.

I was a high school class mate of Jesse at Emma Sansom. Although I have not had any contact with him since, I remember his kind, gentle ways.

I have many fond memories of laughter shared with Jesse from our days at Gulf States Steel. During our very first conversation we discovered a common interest, our grandchildren. Better yet, grandsons Evan and Wade's father was Daryl Gossett..who just happened to be a very good friend of my son, Steve Fleming, during their school years at Hokes Bluff High. Jesse always found my never before shared stories of their mischeivousness very amusing; sometimes a little shocking considering the fact that Daryl now teaches at Hokes Bluff High School. Jesse was a good friend, and I pray for comfort for his wonderful family which he loved with heart and soul.
